If you receive SNAP benefits (also known as food stamps), you can use your EBT card at many grocery stores across the United States.

Most big grocery chains and supermarkets accept EBT in their stores, and some also allow you to use your EBT card to buy groceries online.

Major Grocery Stores That Take EBT

Here’s a list of popular grocery stores where you can use your SNAP benefits:

  • Walmart: You can use your EBT card at Walmart stores and online to pay for approved food items.
  • Amazon: Most states let you use EBT on Amazon to buy groceries, but SNAP only covers food—not extra fees like delivery.
  • Costco: Accepts EBT in stores for members. EBT isn’t accepted for online orders.
  • Sam’s Club: You can use EBT at Sam’s Club stores, but not online.
  • ALDI: You can pay with EBT in stores and online through Instacart.
  • Kroger and stores like Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Smith’s, and Fry’s: Accept EBT in person and, in some states, for online pickup orders.
  • Albertsons and stores like Safeway, Vons, and Jewel-Osco: Accept EBT in-store, and many locations allow online orders with EBT.
  • Target: EBT is accepted at Target stores and for online pickup and delivery, but only for eligible groceries.
  • Publix: Accepts EBT in stores for food items. Online shopping with EBT is available through Instacart.
  • Trader Joe’s: All stores accept EBT in person. Online shopping isn’t available.
  • Whole Foods: You can use EBT in stores. It is also accepted on Amazon Fresh in some areas.
  • Wegmans: Accepts EBT in stores and online.

  • Food Lion: Takes EBT in stores and online in some locations.
  • Sprouts: Accepts EBT in stores and for online orders through their website, app, or Instacart.
  • CVS: Many locations accept EBT for SNAP items, and you can use EBT online via some apps like DoorDash.
  • Walgreens: Accepts EBT in person and for online orders through Instacart.
  • Dollar stores: Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar accept EBT in stores and, often, online through Instacart.
  • 7-Eleven: EBT is accepted for eligible items in stores and for online orders through the 7-Eleven app or Instacart/DoorDash.
  • Wawa: Some locations accept EBT for groceries, but online EBT shopping isn’t available.
  • Thrive Market: This online store accepts EBT for eligible items.
  • H-E-B: Texas-based store, takes EBT in stores and online.

How to Find Stores Near You That Accept EBT

Many smaller local stores accept EBT, too. Here are some tips to find stores near you:

1. Check the USDA SNAP Retailer Locator: The USDA has a free tool online to help you find stores. Enter your ZIP code or address, and see a map and list of stores that accept EBT.

2. Call the Store: If you want to check if a specific store takes EBT, call and ask:

  • "Do you accept SNAP/EBT for in-store purchases?"
  • "Can I use EBT for online grocery orders or delivery?"
